Toronto Light Fest is giving city slickers a new reason to love winter in “The 6.” The 45-day installation has transformed the Distillery District into a huge open-air gallery, complete with interactive pieces designed to brighten guests’ spirits.

Open from dusk to 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and dusk to 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, the installation features the work of an international group of artists, including Studio Toer from the Netherlands, Alaa Minawi from Lebanon, and Ryan Longo from Canada.

“We want to create something special and something that will lift the collective spirit of the city,” says Mathew Rosenblatt, creator and executive director of the Toronto Light Festival. “Simply put, we want to help transform a moment of consciousness, from the cold of the dark into the warmth of the light.”

Toronto’s first light art festival is on now and runs until March 12. For the full festival details, visit their web site or follow their glowing installations on Instagram.

Cool photos! They do such neat things there and I never take the time to go down. Too bad it doesn’t extend into March Break – that would be a great family adventure! The light show at Fort Henry ends before March Break too.

This would indicate that brewing cannot be regarded as no light matter! Spectacular indeed.
